Frontrunning V8 SuperUte Series outfit Team Triton Racing has today announced a revamped line-up for 2023, with Adam Marjoram confirmed as its full-time driver along with new naming-rights partner in Motion.
Having previously made a name in Super2, as well as the V8 Utes Racing Series, Marjoram made a successful one-off appearance in the category last year at The Bend Motorsport Park taking the pole position, a race win and enough points for the round victory on debut.
Spurred on by the 2022 victory, “The Menace” says he’s excited to make a full-time racing comeback for the first time in four years, especially in front of a home crowd for Round 1 at CARCO.com.au Raceway in Western Australia in two weeks time (April 28-30, 2023).
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about racing, and now I am,” said Marjoram. “To get the win and the pole on a comeback round last year really reignited the passion for motorsport. It put a pep in my step and when Craig [Dontas] called to ask if I’d like to race this year it was a very easy yes!
“I had to work really hard at The Bend that weekend because nothing came natural to me in terms of my feedback and settling into the car at first. But seeing such a competitive field in SuperUtes this year, I’m relishing the opportunity to push myself harder to take it to a lot of the seasoned campaigners who are back as well.
Marjoram will be joined by engineer Clifton Campbell, while former team stalwart Craig Dontas steps into the team manager role for 2023.
“I’m very proud to announce not only a great new partnership with Motion but also to have long-time friend and teammate Adam Marjoram step up to our full-time driver in 2023,” said Dontas.
“For me, I’m relishing the opportunity to be the team manager, working across the commercial side of the team with our great partners and helping Adam, Clifton and the Sieders Racing Team crew make sure we are the best on track for success.
“Motion will be a huge addition to our team and the sport, we have some great activity planned across the year, I feel very comfortable with where we are at and looking forward to a very successful year ahead,” said Dontas.
Heath Fitzpatrick, COO Motion Asia Pacific, added his support for a successful season ahead.
“I’m very pleased and genuinely excited about our partnership in 2023, to see our Motion brand across a highly relevant and national platform, partnering with the Team Triton V8 SuperUte outfit,” said Fitzpatrick. “We are really looking forward to a successful season and backing Adam Marjoram. Both the team and driver will be huge assets for the growth in the Motion brand on a national stage.
“Why Team Triton and SuperUtes? We were actually really impressed with the diversity that Team Triton had to offer, particularly the diversity within the team and category having a focus on women in sport, junior mechanic and engineering positions. This inclusion aligned really well with our values here at Motion, and we’re really keen to get involved in 2023,” concluded Heath Fitzpatrick, COO Motion Asia Pacific.
Marjoram – who was born and bred in Perth – started racing karts at the age of six, winning three state championships and 12 state titles. Following stints in Saloon Cars and the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, Marjoram switched to V8 Utes in 2013 and came fourth outright in 2015. A regular on the podium, he made the switch to Super2 in 2016 and competed with both Matt Stone Racing and Image Racing before calling time on his professional racing career at the start of 2020. This year will be Marjoram’s first full season competing in any form of motorsport since then.
Motion Team Triton Racing is supported by Motion, Verto, Lightforce Australia, Ultima Shock Absorbers, Rare Spares, Platinum Gaskets, Trade Risk and Australian Motors Mitsubishi.
Round 1 of the 2023 V8 SuperUte Series season kicks off from 28-30 April 2023 at CARCO.com.au Raceway in Western Australia, in support of the Repco Supercars Championship.
