Adrian Cottrell joins GGM for two-car V8 SuperUte Assault

Former Aussie Racing Car National Champion and National Formula 3 race winner Adrian Cottrell will race with the South Australian-based GGM team in a two-car Holden Colorado assault for the 2023 V8 SuperUte Series.

Cottrell will pilot the #41 SuperUte – formerly driven by last year’s champion Aaron Borg – while GGM team owner George Gutierrez will again steer the #19 SuperUte he campaigned in 2022.

“I’ve worked with GGM before in the motorsport world so they are no stranger to us,” Cottrell said. “There has been a lot of hard work in the background to make this deal happen and we’re super pumped to get onto the national tour and get the season started. We’ve been doing a bit of sprint car racing, slinging some mud and sort of waiting to let the Covid stuff play out and let the world go back to normal, but now it’s time to get back to some asphalt racing and SuperUtes is the perfect choice for us.”

With a television package that includes coverage on Foxtel, Seven, and online streaming via Kayo, the V8 SuperUte Series is more relevant and more exciting than ever; for the sport, competitors, commercial partners, and as a platform supporting both the automotive workforce as well as a fast-growing consumer market.

“Having two cars now with back-to-back data, set up and driving styles is going to be game changer for us,” added Gutierrez. “Last season we had nothing to compare with. The two-car operations now gives us as a team the opportunity to work on setups together and fast tracking the our progress over a race weekend. Between myself and Adrian’s experience I really look forward to the year ahead.”

Liveries and Team Partners for both entries’ will be released in the coming weeks.

The team will conduct a testing program at The Bend Motorsport Park and Mallala, both in South Australia, before Round 1. The V8 SuperUte Series kicks off in WA at Barbagallo Raceway in late April.
