A dynamite start and a robust late-race defence by David \u201cSideways\u201d Sieders has handed the veteran Race 2 victory on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n
After the top six were inverted providing Rohan \u201cSilver Fox\u201d Barry in the Abcor Racing Toyota Hilux and the Go Sunny Solar Holden Colorado of the George \u201cEl Gringo\u201d Guitierrez a front-row berth, but it was Sieders splitting the pair in his Sieders Racing Team Mitsubishi Triton.<\/p>\n
Behind, series leader Aaron \u201cA A Ron\u201d Borg in the ACDelco Sieders Racing Team Holden Colorado played it safe dropping position to returnee Ryal \u201cThe Kid\u201d Harris in the Super Butcher Ford Ranger and title rival Craig \u201cBig Sexy\u201d Woods driving the Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux.<\/p>\n
Sieders built a gap from Barry as Harris, Woods and Borg put the pressure on the Abcor Racing Toyota Hilux. The reigning series winner managed to get through at Turn 4, but when Wood attempted to do likewise at the back end of the circuit there was contact, with the resultant damage dropping the duo out of contention.<\/p>\n
Gutierrez meanwhile was struggling to after being forced to pit with a throttle sensor problem, which put him multiple laps down.<\/p>\n
With Harris now free to attack Sieders, the race was building to an exciting climax on the final lap. The Super Butcher Ranger driver was determined to add another victory to his tally and attempted a pass around the outside at Turn 11, but Sieders ran wide forcing Harris into the wall.<\/p>\n
The resulting damage to the Ranger dropped him out of contention leaving Sieders to win from Harris and Ben \u201cThe Jet\u201d Walsh, who recovered from an incident at Turn 13 to round out the podium in the Fat Freddy\u2019s Lager Toyota Hilux.<\/p>\n
Harry \u201cStyles\u201d Gray was fourth in the Ryco 24.7 Racing Mitsubishi Triton from Dave \u201cMudflap\u201d Casey driving the Bendix Racing Isuzu D-Max, the City Rural Insurance Brokers Mazda BT-50 of Richard \u201cGrey Gonads\u201d Mork and Chris \u201cJazz Hands\u201d Formosa in his Allgate Motorsport Ford Ranger.<\/p>\n
Rounding out the top 10 were Ellexandra \u201cNotZak\u201d Best in the Best Leisure Industries Mitsubishi Triton, the World\u2019s Best Technology example of Jaiden \u201cBoy Wonder\u201d Maggs and the recovering Harris.<\/p>\n
Dean \u201cThe Professor\u201d Brooking was 11th<\/sup> in his repaired Gates JKD Racing Team Toyota Hilux ahead of Woods, Barry and Gutierrez.<\/p>\n Two more races will follow tomorrow as Borg\u2019s second just about puts the title out of reach.
