TWO WINNERS FROM TWO RACES IN ACTION-PACKED SATURDAY IN PERTH

Adam Marjoram and Cody Brewczynski have both claimed a Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series race win each at CARCO.com.au Raceway today, with the reigning champion dominating Race 1 and Brewczynski stamping his authority in Race 2 in a nail-biting finish to Saturday action.

In Race 1, Marjoram (#1 Isuzu D-MAX) made a strong start from the front row to beat polesitter David Sieders (#3 Yuasa Batteries Mazda BT-50) into Turn 1. From there, he controlled the pace and managed tyre wear on a track known for its high degradation.

Bringing home a solid result in second place was Sydneysider Brewczynski (#18 Toyota HiLux), who passed Sieders in the closing stages after the pair traded fastest laps throughout. Sieders, who topped Friday’s qualifying, held on for third while setting a new V8 SuperUtes track record of 1m04.5632s in the process. The battles between Brewczynski and Sieders allowed Marjoram to run away with the lead, setting a 1.5sec gap by the end of the race, and leaving Sieders vulnerable to his SRT stablemate Aaron Borg (#4 Isuzu D-MAX).

Borg finished fourth and stayed within reach of the leaders, briefly running in third before being bumped wide. A previous winner around the Wanneroo circuit, he was consistent across the race but didn’t quite have the pace to challenge for the podium.

Rossi Johnson (#333 Holden Colorado) recovered to finish fifth after slipping down the order on the opening lap. He made up ground with clean passes on Jimmy Vernon (#50 Mitsubishi Triton) finishing sixth and Craig Woods (#64 Toyota HiLux) in seventh.

Perth newcomer Anthony Jewell (#28 Mitsubishi Triton) impressed with an eighth-place finish in his first Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes race.

The top 10 was completed by Jason Norris (#8 Toyota HiLux) and Paul Morris (#67 Ford Ranger). Further down the field, Holly Espray (#777 Isuzu D-MAX), Michael Sherwell (#55 Mitsubishi Triton) and Chris Formosa (#49 Ford Ranger) battled in the early laps, with Espray gaining four places overall to claim the Yuasa Batteries Hard Charger Award, despite a 5-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement.

The race saw early action, going three wide at the start with Morris off into the grass on the narrow straight, and one safety car period after separate incidents for Glen Melling (#65 Holden Colorado), who locked the rear wheels up and turned the car around into the wall. Melling retired with damage, while Scott Taylor (#222 Ford Ranger) was turned around later in the race at Turn 5 following contact with Perth local Cade Bell (#10 Ford Ranger), who was issued a 10-second penalty.

The Reverse Grid race started with Norris in the box seat for the first time in his Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes career, alongside Jewell in his second race of the series on the front row. Jewell had issues on the start reacting to the lights going out, with smart driving by Vernon, Borg and Brewczynski to get around him.

Brewczynski worked his way through the pack to overcome late race pressure and claim an emphatic victory over Sieders and Johnson.

Earlier in the race Johnson had worked his way to the front of the field, getting around Vernon, who also lead the race for two laps before Johnson had more pace at the front to lead the field from Lap 4. A small mistake into Turn 6 opened the door for a lurking Sieders to sneak through, but it was still a positive outcome for The Territorian, securing his career-best finish to date in third and first ever national series podium finish.

Borg was next across the line, again in fourth, ahead of Woods, who was looking to secure another strong result today in fifth and Morris in sixth.

Early race leader Vernon slipped to seventh, just ahead of Race 1 winner Marjoram; the hometown hero started deep in the field after the top-nine inversion and recovered to eighth after an early clash with Dave Casey (#782 Mitsubishi Triton), handing the latter a 15-second penalty.

The top 10 was completed by Jason Norris and Adrian Cottrell; the latter made up 12 places after retiring in Race 1, earning him the Yuasa Batteries Hard Charger Award.

Further back, Jewell improved on a tough start to finish 14th, while Taylor and Espray both had off-track moments. Espray parked the #777 late in the race after snapping the gear lever.

A 15-second penalty was issued to Casey for contact with Marjoram earlier in the race.

Two races remain for Round 3 of the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series, with Race 3 set for 9:50am and Race 4 at 2:05pm AWST on Sunday, 8 June at CARCO.com.au Raceway, WA. Both races will be broadcast live on Kayo and Fox Sports 506.
