Team Motion Racing sweeps Saturday at Symmons Plains

Team Motion Racing has come away from Saturday’s races in the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series with a pair of lights-to-flag victories and a win apiece for Adam Marjoram (#1 Isuzu D-MAX) and Aaron Borg (#4 Isuzu D-MAX).

The track record also took a tumble again when reverse-race polesitter and winner Marjoram shaved 0.5-seconds off Friday’s fastest lap time set by Jayden Wanzek (#18 Toyota HiLux) in Race 1.

Marjoram controlled the Race 2 field at both the race start and Safety Car restart, leading Cody Brewczynski (#18 Wanless Toyota HiLux) across the finish line in second and setting a new lap record of 1m00.2529s in the process.

Brewczynski took advantage of contact between yesterday’s first-time pole-sitter Wanzek and Cameron Crick (#7 Mazda BT-50) at the hairpin on Lap 2, sending the #90 Triton up onto the inside grass and the #7 into pitlane with left front damage. He looked to be on for a third-place finish until getting the better of Borg, who had been comfortably running in second late in the race.

David Sieders (#3 Mazda BT-50) was next in fourth, securing his second top-five finish of the weekend, ahead of Yuasa Batteries Hard Charger Award recipient Jimmy Vernon (#50 Mitsubishi Triton) in fifth. During the race, Vernon made up 10 places after a difficult day in the office on Friday, struggling with illness throughout qualifying and Race 1.

Paul Morris (#67 Ford Ranger) improved on his Friday result, crossing the line in sixth after rubbing panels with Brad Vereker (#96 Toyota HiLux) midway through the race. Verker thought he had shut the door, but The Dude drove around him, sending the #96 back down the order.

Michael Sherwell (#55 Mitsubishi Triton) was in the thick of the action all race to achieve a breakthrough result of seventh, setting a new personal best for the Newcastle-based driver. Meanwhile, Vereker recovered to finish eighth, with Adrian Cottrell (#41 Holden Colorado) ninth, and Holly Espray (#777 Isuzu D-MAX) in 10th.

Race 3 again belonged to Team Motion Racing, this time with Borg leading the way off the line, getting the better start over Brewczynski and taking Marjoram with him. Brewczynski settled into third, ahead of Wanzek and Sieders, back to fifth, where they would stay for the remainder of the race. Wanzek’s Race 3 result was a big improvement from Race 2, where a 15-second penalty for contact with David Casey (#782 Mitsubishi Triton) dropped him to 14th.

The second Safety Car of the weekend was deployed when Jason Norris (#8 Toyota HiLux) slowed to a stop off the racing line with fuel pressure issues, while Shaun Richardson (#444 Ford Ranger) also pulled into pit lane early and was unable to finish the race.

Rossi Johnson (#333 Holden Colorado) achieved his best result of the weekend so far in sixth, just ahead of Sherwell who equalled his personal best race result of seventh, while Casey, Cottrell and Morris rounded out the top 10.

Round 2 of the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series, held as part of the Snowy River Caravans Tasmania Super 440, concludes Sunday May 11, with Race 4 at 11.20am, broadcast live on Kayo and Fox Sports Channel 506.
