Yuasa Batteries Racing’s David Sieders has completed a dominant Friday at Round 3 of the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series, topping both practice and qualifying at CARCO.Com.Au Raceway, WA.
The 2016 V8 Utes champion set the pace early in the 20-minute qualifying session with a 1m04.1161s flyer—breaking the V8 SuperUtes qualifying lap record at the circuit and securing his second Yuasa Batteries Pole Position Award of the season. He edged out Sieders Racing Team stablemate Adam Marjoram (#1 Isuzu D-MAX) by just one-tenth of a second.
“Day one was great. Practice one, P1, and pole position in qualifying – I’m really happy with that,” explained Sieders. “The car feels very settled on a very slippery track. The sand here really makes a big difference, you can be king of the castle like I was in practice and qualifying or off the track playing with sandcastles. Let’s hope I don’t do anything silly tomorrow, bring on Race 1.”
Reigning series champion and Perth local Marjoram will line up alongside Sieders on the front row for Saturday morning’s Race 1, while current points leader Cody Brewczynski was third fastest, despite a sizeable lock-up in the #18 Wanless / Custom Lithium Toyota HiLux. Brewczynski and Marjoram also showed strong pace in the morning’s practice session, setting the second and third fastest times behind Sieders.
Sieders’ flyer came early in the session, with the rest of the field unable to knock him off the top spot, despite their competitiveness, with less than one second separating the top eight.
Aaron Borg (#4 Isuzu D-MAX), Adrian Cottrell (#41 Holden Colorado), Rossi Johnson (#333 Holden Colorado), Craig Woods (#64 Toyota HiLux), and Jimmy Vernon (#50 Mitsubishi Triton) qualified fourth through eighth, while Jason Norris (#8 Toyota HiLux) and Paul Morris (#67 Ford Ranger) rounded out the top 10.
New local Perth steerer Anthony ‘Jewellzy’ Jewell, who is replacing Jayden Wanzek this weekend, narrowly missed the top 10, qualifying 11th in the second-best result for a West Aussie in the field in the #28 Humm Group Mitsubishi Triton.
Earlier, Cottrell impressed with a season-best fourth in practice, ahead of Borg in fifth. Western Sydney Motorsport’s Craig Woods was sixth, Johnson seventh, and Morris eighth, with Jewell ninth.
The series hasn’t raced at CARCO.com.au Raceway since 2023, when Aaron Borg dominated with a clean sweep. For many drivers in the current field, this weekend marks their first competitive laps around the West Australian circuit.
Round 3 of the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series continues Saturday in conjunction with the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440. The day begins with Race 1 at 9.05am AWST ahead of the Reverse Grid Race 2 at 3.00pm AWST, with both races broadcast live on Kayo and FoxSports Channel 506.
