Yuasa Batteries Racing’s David Sieders has taken a lights-to-flag victory in Race 1 of the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series at Mount Panorama, Bathurst on Friday morning (October 10, 2025).
Starting alongside pole-sitter Cody Brewczynski (#18 Wanless / Custom Lithium Toyota Hilux), Sieders launched off the line to seize the lead immediately and never looked back. The #3 Yuasa Batteries Racing Mazda BT-50 pilot opened a margin of more than 1.2 seconds within the first lap and went on to set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 2m29.6425s.
“Race 1, P1! That’s how we like it. We got a great start and led lights to flag. Winning a race at the Mountain is like winning a championship, so bring it on for the rest of the weekend. And it’s great to do it with new partners in WeatherTech on the car.” Sieders said.
Brewczynski held second throughout, while Aaron Borg (#4 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-Max) completed the podium, narrowly keeping teammate Adam Marjoram (#1 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-Max) at bay in fourth place.
Jayden Wanzek (#90 Carryboy Racing Mitsubishi Triton) rounded out the top five after fending off strong pressure from Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge Holden Colorado) and Adrian Cottrell (#41 3D SiteWorx Racing Holden Colorado) in sixth and seventh respectively.
Behind them, Craig Woods (#64 Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota HiLux) impressed on his comeback from a heavy Townsville crash to finish eighth, with Holly Espray (#777 Uniden HER Isuzu D-Max) and Jimmy Vernon (#50 Team Ultima Mitsubishi Triton) completing the top 10 after a drag-race to the chequered flag, decided by just 0.058 seconds. Climbing from 12th on the grid, Espray’s top-10 finish earned her the Yuasa Batteries Australia Hard Charger Award for Race 1.
There was drama for Michael Sherwell (#55 Nova Air and Electrical Mitsubishi Triton), who suffered a heavy lock-up under brakes into The Chase, narrowly avoiding contact with Woods. The incident left him managing a significant flat spot, but he still went on to record a solid 11th-place finish.
Further back, Jason Norris (#8 Auto Masters Racing Toyota Hilux) and Jensen Engelhardt (#805 AIV Racing Toyota Hilux) each received a five-second jump-start penalty each to finish 14th and 17th respectively, with Dean Campbell (#7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu D-Max) in 18th for his first Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series race and Brad Vereker (#96 JWL Racing Toyota HiLux) in 19th after his first-ever racing laps around Mount Panorama.
Unfortunately due to incidents in the previous sessions Race 1 was a shortened session, with 15 minutes of elapsed time on track, in otherwise perfect on-track conditions.
Round 5 of the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series continues on Saturday, with Race 2 at 8.25am and Race 3 at 2.25pm. Both races will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo, with Race 3 also live on Channel 7.
