Ryal Harris will debut a brand new Mazda BT-50 V8 SuperUte at Round 2 of the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series in Darwin next week, after shaking down the new race car yesterday at Queensland Raceway.
Sourced from Rocklea Auto Parts, the rolling chassis was a repairable write-off and was dropped at Pace Innovations early March to allow enough time for thez Peters Motorsport team to complete the build between rounds.
“The car ran faultlessly and was quick straight out of the box, I can’t ask for more than that,” said Harris. “Rod Dawson and the boys have built a great car and I am very much appreciative of the efforts put in by all involved
Harris is aiming to get his championship campaign back on track after a topsy turvy Round 1 at the Thrifty Bathurst 500 in late February which has the former champion sitting 10th outright. Showing solid pace in the previous Ford Ranger, Harris had a series of incidents which started with his steering wheel coming off in practice which resulted in missing qualifying. A penalty in Race 1 and a DNF in Race 2 made the round “one to put in the rear vision mirror” admitted Harris.
The #58 EFS 4X4 Accessories Mazda BT-50 has also had a fresh livery with new partners joining the team’s title hunt in 2024. Super Butcher are also back on board for a third season, along with Beck Law, Volo Modular, Winners Locker, Dynamic Excavations and Variety Group Concreting. New partner Australian Payroll Solutions joins from Darwin.
“I have been incredibly lucky with the continued support of EFS 4X4 Accessories, this is our eighth year of an amazing partnership that has seen over 50 race wins and two championships. But the aim is to add another one!” concluded Harris.
Action at Hidden Valley Raceway starts next Friday June 14, before four races are held across Saturday June 15 and Sunday June 16. All races from the betr Darwin Triple Crown will be broadcast live on FoxSports 506 and Kayo.
