Apogee Motorsport has announced a new chapter of their racing team’s evolution, officially joining the Dunlop Super2 Series for the upcoming Darwin Triple Crown event (June 19-21, 2026) with lead driver Rossi Johnson.
It marks a major step forward for the South Australian-based team as it expands its motorsport program onto one of Australia’s premier national racing stages, with the team’s ZB Commodore being driven by Rossi Johnson.
The Territorian’s progression is a significant milestone for both driver and team, reflecting the development pathway and long-term vision Apogee Motorsport has been building.
“This is definitely a milestone moment in my career, to make my debut at Hidden Valley, in front of my home crowd representing the Northern Territory makes the opportunity even more special,” said Rossi Johnson.
“To add to that I’m honoured to do it with Scott and the Apogee Motorsport team, over the last few seasons in the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes I’ve built up a great relationship with this group of guys and they have proven just how professional our outfit is. It’s definitely a big leap but I have full faith in the team I’ve got around me”
Team owner Scott Stephenson added: “This is an incredibly proud moment for everyone involved at Apogee Motorsport. To take the next step into Super2 and continue Rossi’s journey at this level is something we are extremely excited about. It is the result of a huge amount of hard work, commitment, and belief in the program.”
As part of the campaign, Apogee Motorsport will be teaming up with Terry Wyhoon from Image Racing for this event and beyond, combining Apogee’s ambition with proven equipment and experience to ensure a strong entry into the series.
“This is a huge step for Rossi, Scott and everyone at Apogee Motorsport and everyone at the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series is behind this 100%,” said Category Manager Filippa Guarna. “Progressing into Super2 is exactly what our category is designed to enable. The V8 SuperUtes platform is a legitimate development series — it equips drivers with the racecraft, professionalism and commercial understanding required to take the next step into Supercars. Seeing that pathway come to life with drivers like Rossi is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
The team’s first competitive appearance will come at the Darwin Triple Crown in June, with preparations already well underway. A key test is scheduled for next month, giving the team and Rossi valuable seat time ahead of their debut round.
This announcement reinforces Apogee Motorsport’s commitment to creating a genuine pathway for South Australian talent and building a competitive presence at the highest levels of Australian motorsport.
