Reigning champion Adam Marjoram capped off a dominant weekend in Townsville by sweeping Sunday’s two races and claiming his first round win of the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series season, putting him in the lead of the series with two rounds to go.
The #1 Team Motion Racing ace led the field home in three of the four races, ahead of Cameron Crick on the second step of the round podium and David Sieders in third by weekend’s end. With only two rounds left in the season, securing as many points as possible was crucial for the championship contenders, with Marjoram making his intentions for back-to-back championship wins known this weekend.
“Three wins and a third, I can’t argue with that, I’m absolutely stoked. The package was really good this weekend. Sieders Racing and Team Motion Racing threw the kitchen sink at it after qualifying and the changes worked to give us the pace. All credit goes to the guys, I couldn’t do it without them,” Marjoram said.
“Cricky [Cameron Crick] kept me honest. He’s a bloody good driver and Bathurst 1000 driver for good reason, so props to him and props to David Sieders. There were some great results for my mate, Jewellzy [Anthony Jewell], and Kotty [Adrian Cottrell] as well. Bathurst is next, and I can’t wait.”
In Race 3, Marjoram delivered a commanding lights-to-flag win. Starting alongside Crick (#7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu D-MAX), Marjoram got the better launch off the line, sweeping into the lead through Turn 1. Crick slotted into second and stayed close for the duration of the 20-minute sprint, but couldn’t find a way past ‘The Menace’.
Sieders (#3 Yuasa Batteries Racing Mazda BT-50) rebounded strongly from clutch issues on Saturday to claim third, while Adrian Cottrell (#41 3D SiteWorx Racing Holden Colorado) finished fourth. Behind them, Anthony Jewell (#28 Team Ultima Mitsubishi Triton) navigated the tricky Townsville street circuit in just his second round of the series to finish a V8 SuperUtes career-best fifth. Jason Norris (#8 Auto Masters Racing Toyota HiLux) also delivered a personal best result in sixth, followed closely by Jimmy Vernon in the second Team Ultima Mitsubishi Triton (#50), who fought hard in the mid-pack and made some decisive moves early in the race.
Early on, Vernon was locked in battle with Paul Morris (#67 Scott Taylor Motorsport Ford Ranger), Michael Sherwell (#55 Nova Air and Electrical Mitsubishi Triton), and Scott Taylor (#222 Scott Taylor Motorsport Ford Ranger) for position in the top ten, when the Scott Taylor Motorsport teammates came together, sending ‘The Dude’ for a spin and Sherwell around wide to avoid them, with Taylor taking a 15-second penalty. Sherwell had been on a charge through the pack up to that point, having started down the order in 22nd, and going to finish 13th and earning the Yuasa Batteries Hard Charger Award for his efforts.
Championship contender Cody Brewczynski (#18 Wanless / Custom Lithium Toyota HiLux) had to fight back after an early spin after a tap from behind dropped him down the order, before recovering seventh. Zak Best (#78 Bob’s Bulk Booze Ford Ranger) showed strong pace in the opening laps but made contact with Aaron Borg (#4 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) in Turn 7, sending the Motion Racing driver spinning and out of contention. Best was handed a 15-second time penalty for the incident and ultimately classified eighth. Luke Webber (#26 SCM Mechanics Mazda BT-50) and Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge Holden Colorado) rounded out the top 10.
In Race 4, Marjoram launched like a slingshot around Crick and took control into Turn 1. Crick stayed close, but was again unable to catch the #1, leaving ‘Camshaft’ to cross the finish line in second.
Sieders was part of the front runners throughout the race, keeping the pressure on the #7 in front, making a number of unsuccessful attempts to move up a step on the podium. Cottrell delivered another standout performance in fourth, closing in on Sieders in the final laps. Zak Best also gave the lead battle pack a run for their money, getting within striking distance of fourth, but ultimately crossing the line fifth, in what was an overall strong weekend for the Victorian’s debut round.
Borg delivered a strong recovery after a tough Race 3, moving up six positions to claim the Yuasa Batteries Racing Hard Charger Award to finish sixth. Jewell capped off an impressive second Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes weekend in seventh, while Brewczynski held on for eighth, with Johnson and Morris rounding out the top ten.
In the championship standings, Adam Marjoram leads on 910 points followed by David Seiders on 864 points in second, Cody Brewczynski drops back to third place on 851 points, Borg remains in fourth on 773 points and Jimmy Vernon moves up to fifth on 670 points.
The 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series next heads to Mount Panorama and the Repco Bathurst 1000 from 9-12 October for the fifth round of the season. Information about tickets and broadcast times are available here.
