Team Motion Racing’s Adam Marjoram has won Round 2 of the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series at Symmons Plains Raceway after finishing claiming the final race of the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 event and never finishing outside the top four.
Cody Brewczynski (#18 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Mazda BT-50) claimed second outright in what was a strong weekend for Western Sydney Motorsport, punctuated by Justin Ruggier’s (#88 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota HiLux) Race 2 rollover on Saturday. The team celebrated Craig Woods’ (#64 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota HiLux) drought-breaking Race 2 win, Brewczynski’s Race 3 win, and Justin Ruggier’s (#88 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota HiLux) Uniden Pole Position, but Ruggier was unable to add to that winning tally on Sunday.
Rookie Jack Westbury set two personal best race results on Sunday, finishing third in Race 3 before going one better in Race 4 to complete the round podium.
“We had clutch and brake dramas all weekend but the team were really good to get on top of that,” said Marjoram. “We started with qualifying in sixth and just worked our way through to win that last race and take the round and really can’t thank enough my crew at Team Motion Racing. Can’t wait to do it all again in my home state of WA!”
Rookie Brock Stinson (#31 Anytime Finance Ford Ranger) moved the most number of places forward across all four races to claim the Uniden Pole Position Award, an impressive feat after missing qualifying on Friday, having run out of time to complete an engine swap following a mechanical failure in Practice.
In Race 3 early Sunday morning, overnight rain and an early start left the 20-strong Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series field slipping and sliding across a damp track, catching out several drivers from the outset. Cameron Crick (#7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu DMax) found himself touching the fence and spinning across the track as the rear stepped out exiting Turn 3, though he got away cleanly without a Safety Car.
The race wouldn’t stay green for the full session though as Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge / Apogee Motorsport Holden Colorado) outbraked himself and speared into the gravel at the hairpin on lap five, dropping him from fourth to 20th and bringing out the Safety Car.
As the race resumed, Brewczynski led into the hairpin on lap one and never looked back, crossing the line to take the win. Marjoram slotted in behind on the outside at the start and held on for second, overcoming the brake and clutch issues that had plagued his weekend.
Westbury rounded out the race podium in third, diving through a gap that opened when David Sieders (#1 WeatherTech Mazda BT-50) ran wide battling Marjoram on the final lap, and setting the fastest lap of the race in the process – a 1m05.1816s. Sieders finished fourth, while Aaron Borg (#4 Team Motion Racing Isuzu DMax) completed the top five. Borg had lined up from the second row of the grid but got bogged down on the start, immediately dropping from third to eighth as Woods, Johnson, Crick, and Westbury all made it cleanly around the #4.
Four rookies featured in the top 10, with Westbury joined by Stinson in sixth, Evans in eighth, and Ruben Dan (#111 Brown Commercial Building Mazda BT-50) in 10th. Dan and Stinson were the biggest movers of the race, climbing seven and five places respectively, while Woods finished seventh and Crick ninth to complete the top 10.
After a big night of repairs and the all-clear from the medical team, Ruggier was back on track in the #88 with the front and rear windscreens removed following Saturday’s rollover. The fix came with its own drama as the force of wind through the open front sent the dash flying backwards, obscuring his view, before a quick wrap of race tape secured it back in place.
In Race 4, Brewczynski and Marjoram again lined up on the front row of the grid. The pair ran side-by-side with David Sieders on their tailgates through to the hairpin. Marjoram got the better line exiting Turn 4 to take the lead, with Sieders tucking in behind for third and Westbury, Borg and Crick all running with the lead pack.
The opening lap was anything but clean. Jason Norris (#8 Auto Masters Racing Toyota HiLux) made heavy contact with Evans at Turn 5, losing a front wheel and heading to the pits. Dan found his way into the sand in the same spot as Johnson in the previous race, triggering a Safety Car.
Marjoram took the lead at the restart as Sieders was right on his bumper and looking every bit the reigning champion when a driveline failure sent the #1 drifting backwards through the pack and out of the race. Westbury, who had been lighting up the timing screens, moved up to second and closed on Marjoram in the final laps, but The Menance held on for the win. Brewczynski recovered from the early chaos to take third, while Borg, Woods, Johnson, Crick, Ruggier – this time running with a replacement windscreen – Stinson, and Sherwell completed the top 10.
The 2026 Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series continues with Round 3 from July 31 to August 2 at the Perth Super 440 at MotorMall Wanneroo Raceway, WA.
Championship Points see Marjoram now in first with 444 points, Cody Brewczynski is second on 422 and Aaron Borg sits third on 404. The rest of the top 10 includes Cameron Crick in fourth (402 points), Craig Woods fifth (367 points), Rossi Johnson sixth (366 points), David Sieders seventh (351 points), Jack Westbury eighth and lead rookie (330 points), Ruben Dan ninth (314 points) and Justin Ruggier rounds out the top 10 (304 points).
