FAT FREDDY’S LAGER BACKS SUPERUTES FOR REST OF 2022

Fat Freddy’s has announced an increased presence in the Haltech V8 SuperUte Series for 2022 with its lager range becoming a series partner for the final two rounds at Bathurst and Gold Coast.

The Broadbeach-based bar and diner is owned by Ben Walsh, steerer of the #8 Western Sydney Motorsport entry. After two years of primary backing on the Toyota HiLux, the brand will increase category support to a series level to promote the new Fat Freddy’s Lager range coming to bottle stores in the coming months.

“We brewed our own lager to sell in-house two years ago and it’s outselling any other beer by 4-to-1 and the repeat patronage was so overwhelming, we had to package it up and get it out to market,” said Walsh. “It’s an old school styled lager that’s clean and crisp. It appeals to most lager drinkers who are prepared to move away from the mainstream and craft boutique brands, but still want a more mainstream ‘flavour’. The can version is in production and will be in bottle shops soon.”

Fat Freddy’s is a family-friendly American-style sports bar and diner established in 2019. Not only has the venue been selling the lager on tap within the establishment, but also at various venues across southeast Queensland. The new alcohol range will appear not just on the #8 WSM SuperUte but all competitor entries at Bathurst and Gold Coast events. The bar and diner will also play host to the category’s end-of-season awards dinner at the end of October.

Haltech V8 SuperUte Series category manager Luke Sieders welcomed the partnership, saying that any opportunity to support current competitors is always front of mind.

“The SuperUtes paddock is like a huge family and it’s great to have one of our own support the series and the series support them back. It’s a fantastic product that I’m sure everyone will love and we’re also keen to promote the responsible drinking message through SuperUtes over the final two rounds and into 2023 as well.”

The Haltech V8 SuperUte Series is set to race at Mount Panorama next week as a support category to the Repco Bathurst 1000 from October 6-9, 2022.
