Regular Hyundai Excel racer Brad Vereker will make his debut in the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes at Round 2 in Darwin next month (June 14-16).
With eyes on a full-time drive for 2025, the Victorian will take the wheel of the #96 Mitsubishi Triton campaigned last year by Jaiden Maggs; Maggs has been away from racing in 2024 with the impending birth of his first child which is due within weeks.
Vereker has been a standout in Hyundai Excel racing in recent years, winning the Masters Champion title at the 2022 Nationals, and has 10 race wins, six pole positions, numerous fastest laps and round victories to his credit.
Securing technical support from Sieders Racing Team, the 37-year-old from Kyneton on the outskirts of Melbourne said he’s been wanting to be part of the series for a while.
“I’ve been keen to get into a V8 SuperUte for the past 12 months to be honest. It’s exciting, highly professional, with great racing and really good value for money for sponsorship exposure at a national level,” said Vereker.
“I only started racing cars three years ago in the Excel Series but I wanted to take a step up. V8 SuperUtes has some really talented drivers and teams so I’m looking forward to learning as fast as I can against some of the best drivers in the country.
“Testing on Wednesday at Sydney Motorsport Park went well. Luke [Sieders] and the team made me feel very welcome and comfortable in the car. We had both rain and dry running, and I was happy with my speed with limited laps.”
With a six-round calendar that started at the Bathurst 500 in February, it’s been a long break between rounds for the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes, as the category anticipates being part of the betr Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway as support to the Repco Supercars Championship.
“I’ve never raced at Darwin but attended the event in 2022 as a spectator and it is one of the best events on the Supercars calendar. Can’t wait to get up there and make the most of not just being a competitor but it’s my opportunity to really settle into the V8 SuperUte style of racing and start working towards a drive next year,” added Vereker.
