Yuasa Batteries Racing’s David Sieders has taken the 2025 Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series title despite the cancellation of the fourth and final race at the Sandown finale this past weekend (November 14-16).
Sunday afternoon track conditions were deemed unsuitable due to a long oil trail being dropped from a prior support category, prematurely deciding what had shaped as a thrilling final battle for the title between Sieders and reigning series champion Adam Marjoram (#1 Team Motion Racing Isuzu DMAX).
Sieders ultimately won the title by seven points over 2024 champ Marjoram. This marks Sieders’ maiden Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series win and his first championship victory in nine years since his 2016 V8 Ute Racing Series crown.
“We finished where we started the year, P1 at the first round, P1 in the championship at the final round, it’s what we came here for,” said David Sieders. “Big thanks to Cliffy [Campbell] for making my car fast all year, Phil [Reid] from Creative Signworx who’s been my car designer for 15 odd years, to the team at Yuasa Batteries for backing me, WeatherTech Australia for coming onboard and also Tyrepower for supporting the series now. Couldn’t have had such a strong year without you.
“We also did it for AB [Alan Bradshaw] from Yokohama; he was on the car riding with us the last two rounds since he passed away before Bathurst because he has been a huge supporter of both the Sieders family and the series from the start. A lot of people have supported me for a very very long time and even though it’s been a while since my last title this proves that I’ve still got it and that experience does count. Bring on 2026 with the #1.”
Sieders did the job in Race 3 earlier in the day, greeting the chequered flag first to retain the title lead he took from Marjoram after a thrilling reverse grid Race 2 on Saturday (November 15).
Starting from pole in Race 3, the 41-year-old Sydneysider was to share the front row with title contender Cody Brewczynski (#18 Wanless/Custom Lithium Toyota Hilux), but the latter failed to make the start due to a tailshaft failure.
This made the job easier for Sieders with a clear run through Turn 1 and help from Cameron Crick (#7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu DMAX) when he held off Marjoram in the opening laps.
A titanic battle between Crick and Marjoram fell to the latter after a spectacular pass around the outside approaching the fast esses at the end of Sandown’s back straight.
Jimmy Vernon (#50 Team Ultima Mitsubishi Triton) maintained fourth ahead of two hard chargers in Aaron Borg (#100 Team Motion Racing Isuzu DMAX) and Jayden Wanzek (#90 Carryboy Racing Mitsubishi Triton), who advanced 10 positions; Wanzek taking the Yuasa Batteries Hard Charger Award for Race 3.
Sustaining early pressure, Craig Woods (#64 Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux) claimed seventh ahead of Holly Espray (#777 Uniden/HER Isuzu DMAX) for one of her best results of the season in eighth. Rounding out the top 10 were Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge Holden Colorado) and Brad Vereker (#96 JWL Racing Toyota Hilux).
Further in the pack, the biff and barge that has come to win the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes many fans was on full display.
Jason Norris (#8 Auto Masters Racing Toyota Hilux) made plenty of moves early, leading to some light bodywork damage on the way to 12th just behind Adrian Cottrell (#41 3D SiteWorx Racing Holden Colorado). Michael Sherwell (#55 Nova Air and Electrical Mitsubishi Triton) bounced back from retirement in Race 2 by finishing 13th ahead of a hard-charging Amar Sharma (#9 City Rural Insurance Brokers Mazda BT-50) and Ellexandra Best (#76 Best Leisure Industries Mazda BT-50).
Contact from Matt Nolan (#21 Clipsal/My Construct Racing Ford Ranger) sent Jensen Engelhardt (#806 AIV Racing Toyota Hilux) into a spin on the exit of Turn 9. Engelhardt returned to the race to finish 16th and Nolan retired due to the damage incurred.
The finishers in Race 3 were completed by Glen Melling (#65 Jasmat Steel Fabrications Holden Colorado) and Gavin Newman (#26 Pedders JKD Racing Mazda BT-50) following a fast spin at Turn 1.
Joining Nolan in not finishing Race 3 were Richard Mork (#78 Uniden Ford Ranger) and the aforementioned Brewczynski.
The Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes Series will return in 2026 as a support card to the Repco Supercars Championship, with further details to be released in due course regarding the calendar; the season finale already confirmed last week to be the bp Adelaide Grand Final.
Final championship points are as follows: 1) David Sieders on 1268 points, 2) Adam Marjoram on 1261, 3) Cody Brewczynski on 1180, 4) Aaron Borg on 1049 points and 5) Jimmy Vernon on 988 points.
