CRICK CLAIMS FIRST POLE POSITION OF 2025 IN TOWNSVILLE

Cameron “Camshaft” Crick has claimed his first Yuasa Batteries Racing Pole Award for 2025 after making a dominant lap in Friday qualifying on the streets of the NTI Townsville 500, host of Round 4 of the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series.

Setting the benchmark time on Lap 1, the #7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu D-MAX clocked a lap of the Reid Park Street Circuit with a time of 1m24.1617s, beating the field by an impressive six-tenths of a second, ahead of Adam Marjoram (#1 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) and series points leader Cody Brewczynski (#18 Wanless / Custom Lithium Toyota HiLux) in second and third respectively; Brewczynski had earlier been the pace setter in morning practice but it wasn’t enough for pole.

Aaron Borg (#4 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) and David Sieders (#3 Yuasa Batteries Racing Mazda BT-50) rounded out the top five, ahead of Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge Holden Colorado), Craig Woods (#64 Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota HiLux) and Jason Norris (#8 Auto Masters Racing Toyota HiLux) in sixth through eighth.

There was a flurry of activity in pit lane mid-way through Qualifying as the majority of the field, including the top three, took a moment to reset before the back half of the session, while the likes of Borg and Sieders, running in 4th and 5th, elected to stay out.

The field looked to come alive with five minutes to go as drivers pushed to unseat Crick for pole position, but an errant muffler lying on the track at the final corner ended the session early, freezing the order

Earlier, Brewczynski led a busy practice session where the fastest lap changed hands multiple times. Zak Best (#78 Bob’s Bulk Booze Ford Ranger), Jimmy Vernon in new-look #50 Team Ultima Mitsubishi Triton, Michael Sherwell (#55 Nova Air and Electrical Mitsubishi Triton), Sieders, and Marjoram all briefly topped the charts before Brewczynski laid down the quickest time of 1m25.1067s in the final moments, pipping Crick by just 0.3635s.

Crick finished the session second overall, ahead of Marjoram in third. Sieders held the top spot early in the session before late efforts from Marjoram, Crick, and Brewczynski dropped the #3 Yuasa Batteries Racing Mazda BT-50 to fourth.

Borg placed fifth in the #4 Team Motion Racing entry, ahead of Woods, Paul Morris (#67 Scott Taylor Motorsport Ford Ranger), and Adrian Cottrell (#41 3D SiteWorx Racing Holden Colorado) in sixth through eighth.

Johnson delivered a strong performance to finish ninth, while Vernon rounded out the top 10.

Zak Best finished just outside the top 10 on his Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes debut in practice, but improved two places in Qualifying to secure ninth on the grid for Saturday’s Race 1, where he will line up alongside Paul Morris in 10th.

With practice and qualifying complete, attention now turns to racing on Saturday as the Tyrepower V8 SuperUtes tackle the Reid Park Street Circuit for the first time in the current V8 era. Don’t miss the action, with both of Saturday’s races broadcast live on Kayo and Fox Sports 506. Race 1 kicks off at 8:15am (AEST), followed by Race 2 at 11:25am (AEST).
