Defending Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series champion David Sieders returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in 2026 with pole position and a victory in Race 1 on Friday at Motormall Wanneroo Raceway, WA.
The Sydneysider’s first win of the season comes at a pivotal point in the championship chase, where he needs to improve on seventh outright on points if he is to have a chance to defend his 2025 title.
Earlier in the day, Sieders scored his first Uniden Pole Position Award of 2026, setting a qualifying lap record of 1m03.6459s before leading every lap of Race 1 in the #1 WeatherTech Mazda BT-50.
The race got off to a chaotic start when Aaron Borg (#4 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) stalled from the second row of the grid, unable to find a gear. The field went three wide as they avoided a collision, with Adrian Cottrell (#41 Team Forty One Holden Colorado) and Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge / Apogee Motorsport Holden Colorado) two of the biggest beneficiaries, each climbing three places before the Safety Car was called.
At the restart, Sieders got the jump and immediately pulled clear of the field. Behind him, Adam Marjoram (#15 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) settled into second – where he would finish the race – and began to chip away at the gap, trimming the lead from over a second to less than half in the closing laps.
Cottrell was putting significant pressure on Majroram as they closed up in the final stages, only to be caught up in contact with the #15 through Turn 7 that unsettled both drivers, and saw Cottrell round out the race podium.
Anthony Jewell (#28 Briteforce Racing Mitsubishi Triton) delivered an impressive result in fourth, in his first round back with the Series since Townsville 2025, and is one of five West Australians in the field this weekend.
Johnson rounded out the top five; the Territorian in lock-step with Jewell as the pair swapped positions for fourth and fifth throughout the race.
Justin Ruggier (#88 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux) came home sixth, after setting the fastest time in practice (1m04.4539s) earlier in the day in a car that had been completely rebuilt following his Race 2 rollover in Tasmania. Craig Woods (#64 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux) was seventh, ahead of Jack Westbury (#29), Sean Evans (#33) and Ruben Dan (#111) to complete the top 10.
Cody Brewczynski (#18 Custom Lithium / WSM Mazda BT-50) crossed the line 12th and was handed a five-second penalty for overlapping at the restart. Chris Formosa (#49 Uniden Ford Ranger) retired from the race after parking in the sand trap late race, while the vastly experienced Grant Johnson, who has stepped into the #7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu D-MAX, also went for a ride through the grass after running as high as fifth before finishing 15th.
In qualifying, Marjoram set the pace early, but was ultimately pipped to the Uniden Pole Position Award by Sieders, with Team Motion Racing teammate Borg qualifying third, ahead of Jewell fourth and Ruggier fifth.
