EFS Racing’s Cameron Crick has won Round 1 of the 2026 Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series at Sydney Motorsport Park over Team Motion Racing’s Adam Marjoram and Aaron Borg in second and third place overall.
Crick (#7 EFS 4×4 Accessories Isuzu D-MAX) was consistent across the weekend, finishing on the podium in three of the four races – third in Race 1, a win in Race 3 and second in Race 4.
“It was great to get the round win with EFS Racing,” said Crick. “The two Team Motion Racing cars are quite fast. We’re still lacking a little bit of speed, but the EFS Isuzu D-MAX is still handling quite well. We have a little bit of work to do, but I’m stoked to get my first round win driving with EFS Racing.
“Clayton [Mortensen, team owner] has put a lot of time into the car, and so has Rod Dawson [team manager], and it’s good to be back racing in Sydney. Bring on Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series Round 2 in Tassie.”
Marjoram (#15 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) and Borg (#4 Team Motion Racing Isuzu D-MAX) each claimed a race win in Round 1, ensuring Team Motion Racing walked away from Sydney with silverware on both Saturday and Sunday. Marjoram capitalised on the reverse-grid format to control Race 2 from the front, while Borg seized his opportunity on Sunday, when the field again raced on the short track.
In Race 4, Crick looked to be on for his second race win of the round, holding off a charging Marjoram until the pair came together in the final moments as Crick attempted to defend his position, sending the #7 and #15 off the track. Borg had been on the pair’s heels for most of the race, looking for the right moment to make his move.
At the race start, Crick got the better run off the line into turn 1, as Marjoram slotted in behind while teammate Borg also passed Rossi Johnson (#333 Shorebarge / Apogee Motorsport Holden Colorado), moving into third.
Jack Westbury (#29 Jack Westbury Racing Mitsubishi Triton) climbed five places in the opening laps, jostling with Johnson for position. Overall, Westbury gained 21 positions total across the four races to claim the maiden Uniden Hard Charger Award of the season, presented to the driver who passes the most cars in a weekend.
Westbury went on to finish in fourth ahead of fellow rookie Ruben Dan (#111 Brown Commercial Build Mazda BT-50) who took his third fifth-place result of the weekend.
This weekend marked the first racing laps for both Westbury and Dan in the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series, with both rookies showing impressive speed and ability on the track.
Defending series champion David Sieders (#1 WeatherTeach Mazda BT-50) crossed the line next in sixth.
Cody Brewczynski (#18 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Mazda BT-50) did extremely well to battle with the mid-pack, putting intense pressure on Dan, even forcing the #111 wide as the rookie pushed to defend his position. It was touch and go before the start whether the Western Sydney Motorsport local would make the grid after electrical gremlins surfaced on Saturday, but Brewczynski pushed through to finish seventh.
Johnson finished in eighth and was firmly in the fight in Race 4 before being forced off the road late in the race, costing him any chance to challenge for a stronger result in the closing laps.
Western Sydney Motorsport rounded out the top 10 with Craig Woods (#64 Thrifty Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux) ninth, and series newcomer Justin Ruggier (#88 Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Hilux) in 10th after a wild 360-degree spin on track at turn 3.
Jonathon Hanbury’s (#22 Apogee Motorsport Holden Colorado) race ended dramatically in the closing laps when a snap over the crest coming onto the front straight sent the #22 into the inside wall at 145km/h, resulting in severe damage. Handbury was unscathed, and the race continued with only a local yellow.
The Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series next heads to the Apple Isle for Round 2 of the 2026 calendar at the Tyrepower Tasmania Super 440 across May 22-24.
